Jennifer Roberts

Jennifer Roberts is the ‎Founder & CEO at Versed Education Group, an organization dedicated to helping schools, school systems, and other education-facing organizations begin courageous conversations about race and equity. She began her career in education teaching 3rd grade in Chicago Public Schools.  

After teaching she went on to roles at Teach for America and The New Teacher Project where she supported new teachers, developed curriculum for new teacher certification, and trained school leaders in best practices in human capital. In 2011 she moved to DC Public Schools, where she first helped craft professional development for teachers and school leaders, including managing the creation of a state-of-the-art online training platform for the teacher evaluation system, IMPACT. She moved on to lead the race and equity work in the DCPS Office of Human Capital, where she helped her colleagues develop the will, skill, and courage to interrupt inequities and create more equitable policies and outcomes for students.

She began Versed Education Group in October of 2015 after noticing the need for teachers, school leaders and education-facing organizations to have meaningful conversations about race and equity at all levels of our education system. She assists her clients in developing equity plans that examine their systems, processes, and relationships for inequities and gives them tools to create accountable measures for eliminating that inequity. Her current projects include working with the new Equity Fellows program Camden, New Jersey and the development of online training modules to assist teachers and leaders in interrupting bias in schools.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Spelman College, a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, and a certification in School, Community and Family collaboration from Johns Hopkins University. Jennifer lives in DC with her husband, Scott, and daughter, Nia.

Jenn aids the breast pump hackathon project in ensuring race, class and equity implications are considered and that project outcomes are beneficial to communities that need the most assistance. She serves as the chairwoman for the advisory board and acts as liaison between the board and leadership team.
